Frequently Asked Questions

WHAT IS APEC SCHOOL?

APEC Schools is a pioneering chain of high schools offering private education at an affordable cost. Our mission is to give high school graduates the choice of pursuing college, professional employment, or both. We are a joint venture by Ayala Education and Pearson’s Affordable Learning Fund.

WHAT MAKES APEC SCHOOLS UNIQUE?

Our all-in tuition fee is in the lowest quartile of all private schools in Metro Manila.

  • We focus on core subjects of English, Math, Science, and are especially proud of our ability to develop the English capabilities of our students.
  • We develop the discipline, skills, and values that are important for each student to succeed in college, and in their workplace, and to become socially responsible citizens.
  • We offer accessible, safe locations secured by CCTV cameras in every classroom.
  • Our SHS program immerses our students deeper into technology and use tablets, and provides a path to professional, white-collar employment by leveraging Ayala Education’s employer partner network. These employer partners co-develop our senior high school programs, and are composed not just of Ayala companies but include non-Ayala companies too

IS IT FOR PROFIT?

As with any enterprise, we are expected by shareholders to generate a return on investment, which will ensure the sustainability of our schools. Profits will also be reinvested into growing the school chain, and increase the number of people we are able to positively impact.

WHY WAS IT INSTITUTED/ WHAT IS THE VISION BEHIND IT?

Our vision is to transform thousands of Filipino lives through affordable education. We aim to help address the problems of over-crowded local schools, of unemployment and underemployment, and the need of local enterprises for better-equipped graduates.

HOW DO YOU BALANCE BUSINESS INTERESTS VS. EDUCATION NEEDS OF THE STUDENTS?

In fact these two are not conflicting ideas, they support each other. We are only truly successful as a school enterprise if we deliver on our promises of education and employment. Schools depend very much on reputation and word of mouth. If our graduates do not see the benefits we claim, we will not ultimately succeed.

ARE YOU REALLY ABLE TO SERVE THE POOREST SOCIO-ECONOMIC CLASSES?

APEC Schools opens its doors to students from both public and private schools, and supports the provision of greater choice in education.

We serve a wide range of students, from all socio-economic classes. We offer scholarships amongst the least affluent. Many individuals also sponsor scholars at APEC Schools.

For our Senior High School program opening this year, we are offering over 3,500 special seats to public school students at zero on-cost to them, as they avail of the Dep Ed vouchers they are each entitled to. These students will have full access to all of our unique programs. We are not aware of any other school that is offering the kind of programs, technology, curriculum, and air-conditioned facilities, at this zero “top-up”.
